There is much history in this Plaza. The gorgeous Spanish Colonial fountain, in the center of the Casa Blanca Square was commissioned by the Genematas family in Guadalajara, Mexico in 1973. The fountain was carved from white volcanic tuff, a native stone of Jalisco by stonecutter, Francisco Lopez. It is a replica of an old fountain found in a
convent patio in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, Mexico.
This fountain was dedicated and the water action inaugurated by the reverend Henry J. Miller of St. Odilias Church . May 2, 1974.
Stop and take a minute to feel the charm of this fountain, I think you will feel the calm. Feel free to take a minute and make a special "wish". It just might come true. Magical!
On the opposite end of the plaza you will see the piscuresque dome atop the high tower which graced the main building of the famous Tucson landmark, The El Conquistador Hotel, built in 1928 and razed in 1968 to make way for Levy's "El Con. Made of Arizona copper and weighing approximately one ton, it was placed on its present tower setting at Casa Blanca Plaza on December 23, 1968.
Experience some of the rich history of Tucson and the charm of Old Mexico all in one Plaza. We hope you enjoy your visit and find Casa Blanca Plaza a destination for some of the best shopping and dining in Tucson.
Stepped in history, This Plaza is truly a wonderful treasure and a special
gem of the "Old Pueblo" !
